The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) is set to host its 2021 workshop and honour some selected distinguished industrialists and companies in the industrial and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector in the country.

This fact is contained in a media statement issued and signed by the association event’s Chairman, Barnabas Eshiet and the Organising Secretary, Johnmark Ukoko respectively and made available to the media recently in Lagos.

The statement disclosed that the event with the theme “The Impacts of Management of Forex on Real and SMEs Sector”, will attract many captains of industry and top financial operatives who are being expected to discuss the impacts of the shortage of forex on their firms in particular and the country in general.

The CICAN’s statement stressed that the forum would provide the real sector and SMEs as well as financial operators opportunity to tell their stories.

The statement added that the opportunity would provide CICAN members an opportunity to fully beam their searchlight on the impacts and scarcity of FX on the country’s manufacturing sector in particular and SMEs sector which has had stunted growth over the years due to the myriads of challenges they have grapple with over the years.

The statement disclosed that some captains of industry who were being expected include the President of Nigeria Chambers is Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ( NACCIMA), the President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria ( MAN), Engr. Mansur Ahmed, the President of National Association of Small Scale Enterprises (NASME), Banks executives, industrialists, top journalists and the members of the public.

The statement added that the event which is billed for December 16, 2021 is scheduled to hold at the prestigious Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The statement stressed that CICAN will use the opportunity of the forum to recognize some renowned industrialists for their great stride and preserverance to continue to operate their business in the country despite the many challenges they have grapple with over the years.

Some of the manufacturers to be honour include ; a renowned industrialist, His Royal Highness, Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Kris Oral Group of Companies, Ogbaru, Anambra State, the Managing Director of Cabelman Wires and Cables, Mr. George Onofowokan, the Nigeria Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ( NACCIMA), the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria ( MAN), Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing ( IVM), the Bank of Industry ( BOI) and MedPlus Pharmaceuticals Limited and some other local firms who have forge on with their operations despite the daunting challenges they have contended with over the years.

It would be recalls that CICAN is one of the country’s oldest beat association affiliated to the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), with it’s National Headquarters in Lagos and affiliate members in Abuja, Aba and some other cities where there are concentration of manufacturing firms.

CICAN members are journalists that report and analyse the country’s real sector , SMEs , commerce and the manufacturing sectors.

It will be recalls that CICAN in December of every year usually assemble captains of industry, SMEs and banking operators to discuss issues that affect the real sector and SMEs in the country.
