As part of the activities to mark their end of the year party, members of the African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) yesterday offered free medical care for freight forwarders operating at the nation’s seaports and airports.

The event which took place at the freight forwarders’ secretariat located at Hajj Camp, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos offered medical services ranging from High Blood Pressure check to sugar level check, free drug for special cases, free medical consultation and health tips for healthy living.

Members and non-members alike gathered as early as 10am at the venue for the free medical care organized by the association under the leadership of its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite through a 10-man planning committee.

The medical check which recorded Fwdr. Akorede Shotayo, Chairman, Murtala Mohammed Airport chapter of the association as the first person to be checked attracted more than 150 persons who were excited to benefit from such gesture.

In course of the medical check , few of  them who had come to benefit from the free health checks unexpectedly discovered that their Blood Pressure (BP) was as high as 189/126mg, likewise indicating very high blood sugar level.

Those identified with abnormal results were quickly offered free medical consultation and drugs to ensure improvement on their health challenges thereafter.

Significantly, among other benefits enjoyed by freight forwarders in attendance included free health talks delivered by Mr. Joshua Gbenga Aderiola, Co-ordinator, APFFLON Health Plus. The health talk focused on Hepatitis B, Diabetes and Stroke among others.

The event was well attended by many members as well as non members of the association as the gesture was extremely appreciated by vast majority that received treatment with free drugs.
