The former President urged the Ooni not to direct Yoruba people to support any aspirant for political position as according to him, the race was not known for following one political party.

Obasanjo who is also a former Head of State, however, warned the Ooni to be wary of those that never wanted him to sit on the throne when he was seeking the throne but now sought his support to gain political favour even as he insisted that people of the Yoruba race would never follow a single political party.

While stating that it was not out of place for Ooni to forgive some individuals for the roles they played during the struggle to fill the throne, he, however advised that the monarch should be careful with political office seekers.
