Many residents of Oreki village in Ibeju Lekki heaved a sigh of relief when Yakubu Abubakar was arrested but how he escaped from Police net is still a misery to many.
Yakabu Abu is an alleged gun runner and notorious armed robber who had been terrorizing Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State for long.
On 20th December, 2021; Abubakar under the training of Musibau Oladiti, David Chang and his notorious gang attacked Samuel Esaw, a resident of Oreki Village, Ibeju Lekki Local Government with guns.
According to a police source, it is a case of conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and threat to life.
Abu Yakubu was arrested with locally made double barrel short gun after the attack on Esaw.
Akodo Police Station investigated the crime and transferred the case to Zonal Monitoring Unit, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
Meanwhile, investigative report revealed that Abubakar and his sponsors; David Chang and Otunba Steve Ajose were training bandits at Oreki land, near Eleko Junction, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
Several pictures of the accused with his cohorts surfaced with AK47 rifle and the pictures were taken at illegal training camp and the Funmi Eguaje called for the file to Abuja to caged the investigation.
Investigation revealed that some persons in mobile uniform were the instructors drilling the bandits at the camp.
Surprisingly, Abubakar was granted bail on medical ground due to the allegation that he was beaten during arrest.
Hotnewsnaija Online later gathered that the suspect who claimed he was hospitalized refused to show up at the police station again after the bail.
It is pertinent for Nigeria police Force not Funmi or DCP Ariyo or anyone the two link to, to re-arrest Yakubu Abubakar and also invite Musibau Oladiti, David Chang as they surely needs to answer some questions related to bandits’ camp, unlawful possession of firearms and threat to life. In fact, his presence is dangerous to residents of Ibeju Lekki and its environs.
