The operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday, intercepted a Pistol with two magazines containing twenty-six rounds of ammunition.

The firearms were intercepted by the customs operatives while on routine examination at the ‘D’ wing of the arrival hall at about 1105 hours in a baggage belonging to one Mr. Afolabi Olumide with Passport number B50120017 who arrived from Washington DC via United Airlines.

According to the Customs Public Relations Officer, Murtala Mohammed International Airport command, Mr. Victor Ogagbor, the suspect had earlier been accused by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) of illegally being in possession of two International Passports.

Ogagbor disclosed that importation of the firearm contravened Schedule 4 of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) which according to him, was an absolute prohibition.

“NCS MMIA command has since handed over the suspect and the arms to the Department of States Services”, he added.
