Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State, in company of his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo were special guests of honour at the 2nd session of the 6th Synod of the Diocese of Aguata, Anglican Communion, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger.
Speaking to the congregation, Governor Soludo expressed appreciation to the Church for the warm reception accorded to him and his wife as it was the second Synod he was attending as Governor of the state.
Governor Soludo remarked that his government has declared a state of emergency on roads and traffic management as well as security.
The Governor emphasised that the criminals terrorising the people of the State had for almost three years held sway in most of the local government areas in the Southern part of the state.
He added that the criminals now see kidnapping and killing as a lucrative enterprise, stressing that it is no longer about liberation movement or any form of political agitations.
Professor Soludo revealed that the people perpetrating the henious crimes against the State have camps in the forests where they also practice idolatry.
He emphasized that the people of Anambra State are predominantly Christians and will not succumb to the practice of idolatry and urged the people to rise and defend their Christian faith against the threat of idolatry practice.
The Governor further urged Christians to close ranks as one united body, adding that the body of Christ is one without discrimination in denomination of either being Pentecostal, Anglican or Catholic.
He reassured Ndi Anambra that security, peace and order will return to Anambra soon as the vision to build a liveable and prosperous homeland remains his focus.
Earlier, the Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Reverend Dr. Samuel C. Ezeofor welcomed the Governor and his wife to the occasion while the entire church led by the Bishop later prayed for the state, Governor Soludo and family.
