The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ogo Ekwueme has inaugurated the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) Committee members for the 18 wards of the local government.
The inauguration which took place at the Council’s headquarters in Ajalli on Wednesday witnessed the presence of the Transition Committee members, Presidents-General, ASWAMA contractor for Orumba North, Mr. Ben. Ekwenie, Environmental Health Officers, Heads of Vigilante groups, Civil Based Organizations (CBOs) among others.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ekwueme informed them that the inauguration of the Ward level ASWAMA Committees was a follow up to the inauguration of the Local Government Committees performed last week in Awka by the state government. The essence is to get the communities to key into the clean and green Anambra State vision of the Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration in the state.
The directive is for ASWAMA officials to monitor all the local government and give feedback to the governor.
The Mayor urged the committee members to mobilize people from different wards to come out and participate in the environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 27th August, 2022, saying, “let’s mobilize our people and make sure that the environmental exercise is successful on that day.
“All of us must come out because we must lead by example. Please, PGs and Councillors, try to assist and make sure that the exercise is successful in your various communities.”
