… Says my mandate is to restore peace, security in Northeast Nigeria
The Commander, Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, Major Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Institute of Leadership Assessment and Development of Nigeria at the Africa-Dubai Investment Business Summit held in Dubai recently.
Major Gen. Musa was honoured by the Leaders Without Borders Development Centre based in Canada for his immense contributions in securing the North East Nigeria.
The event was the 2nd edition of the summit hosted by the Leaders Without Borders Development Centre in collaboration with the Private Office of His Highness, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Faisal Al-Qassimi under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Ahmed Faisal Al-
Qassimi.
In his acceptance speech at the event, Major Gen. Musa stated that he felt extremely humbled and privileged to be considered for the Award adding that the fact that the event was under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Ahmed Faisal Al-Qassim clearly showed the commitment, love for peace and harmony by His Highness and the entire organizers of the event.
Major Gen. Musa who was represented at the event by Commander Bashar Maccido said, “My mandate as the Commander OPHK is to restore peace and security in north eastern part of Nigeria. My country has been fighting the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists who have been waging a protracted warfare against Nigeria
.
“The war have underdeveloped the region for over 13 years and still counting. So far, hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, several others displaced, women and girls abducted and enslaved. Our efforts supported by some of our friends here have enabled us to degrade the capabilities of these terrorists. We now have some level of peace even though more work is still required.
“Today, over 81,600 terrorists with their wives and children have surrendered to the Federal Government of Nigeria. Out of this number, over 40,000 are children. We must bring this war to an end else generations would be destroyed.”
Apologizing for his inability to attend in person to receive the Award due to some operational engagements, he said, “I therefore, heartily receive this award on behalf of all those who are victims of terrorism and insurgency in whatever form, all over the universe.
“My prayer is for humans to remember that without peace, there can never
be development. We must all come together to save humanity, else every one of us would be consumed since the world is a global village.
“I wish to thank the Chief of Army Nigeria, other Service Chiefs and troops for keeping hope alive.”
