The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN has announced vacancy for the position of Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Council.
The Chairman of the Council, Dr. Abubakar Tsanni who signed an advertisement sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday said that the Council made the announcement pursuant to Part III, Section II of the CRFFN Act which empowered it to do so.
Tsanni explained that “The Registrar/CEO is the Chief Executive Officer of the Council and the Secretary of the Governing Council whose function is to carry out and implement the decisions of the Governing Council. The Registrar is responsible for the day to day administration of the Council.”
He recalled that Section 11(1) of the CRFFN Act No. 16 of 2007, stated that “The Council shall appoint a fit and proper person to be the Registrar for the purpose of this Act who shall: (a) hold a minimum of Bachelor’s degree with minimum of ten years cognate experience in freight forwarding business in Nigeria.
“(b). possess membership of relevant professional body (c). Be computer literate with knowledge of ICT application (d). Applicant must not be less than 50 years and not more than 60 years of age. (e). He/she has not been convicted of any criminal offence.”
On skills and abilities of the applicant, the Council Chairman observed that he/she “(a). must have management and administrative experience. (b). Must be a team leader driven by results. (c). Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, charismatic and accommodative. (d). An analytical thinker with strong planning and financial management. (e). Ability to work under pressure and resolve all Council’s issues administratively. (f) Must have a good written and spoken communication skills.”
He, however advised applicant to “Send your application to THE CHAIRMAN, CRFFN GOVERNING COUNCIL attached with Curriculum Vitae, copies of relevant credentials in both soft and hard copies (two sets) and forward to the following addresses: i. registrarvacancy2023@crffn.gov. ng. ii. No.1 Joseph Harden Street, Marina, Lagos, Nigeria. iii. CRFFN Abuja Liaison Office, after Berger Yard, Near Central Bank of Nigeria, Life Camp, Abuja.”
Tsanni added that the deadline for submission of all applications is Tuesday, 7th April, 2023 even as he insisted that “Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.”
The Office of the Registrar/CEO of CRFFN became vacant on January 31, 2023 following the expiration of the tenure of the former Registrar/CEO, Barr. Samuel Nwakohu. Mrs. Chinyere Cecilia Uromta who happened to be the most senior management staff has since assumed duty in acting capacity.
The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN was established by Act No. 7 of 2007 on the 30th day of April, 2007 and charged with the responsibility of among others, to regulate and control the practice as well as organize the structure of activities of persons, organizations and associations operating the freight forwarding business in Nigeria.
The Council is a regulator and self-s sustenance. It is also a revenue generating agency of the Federal Government under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
