…Receives Award of Excellence
The Chairman, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, Tincan Island Port chapter, Fwdr. Emeka Paul Chiedozie has commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola for embarking on tour of Lagos ports to see for himself the state of infrastructure around the ports especially at Tincan Island Port and to rescue the freight forwarders from the collapsing port infrastructure.
Chiedozie who was very optimistic that the visit would speed up response from Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, recalled that TICP was generating huge revenue for the government, but the authority was paying lips service to its maintenance.
He, therefore, appealed to the Minister to monitor and supervise the immediate rehabilitation of the critical infrastructure, especially at TinCan island port by himself adding that if not so, it would be swept under the carpet as was the case in the previous administrations.
The NAGAFF Chairman further recalled that the Managing Director of the NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko had taken a lot of government officials round the port facilities in the past but no meaningful result came therefrom rather the management kept renovating its own office building.
“I sincerely appreciate the Minister for using his wisdom in calling the terminal operators at the ports to collaborate with the federal government to rehabilitate the collapsed quays owing to the fact that they are also benefiting from it too. He added that if the terminal operators don’t cooperate, whenever the port collapse totally, they too, the shipping company including bonded terminals will also lose”, he said.
On the ongoing warning strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Chiedozie appealed to NAGAFF members in chapter to remain calm and be vigilant even as he urged them not to get entangled in the web of the strike as the price according to him is higher. “I feel like shedding tears seeing the hardship my members are going”, he said.
Meanwhile, the executive and members of NAGAFF, Tincan Island chapter have congratulated the Chairman, Fwdr. Emeka Paul Chiedozie over the conferment of “Great Achiever” Award on him by The Prestige Magazine in recognition of his laudable accomplishments, his contribution to the maritime industry and as an advocate of professional freight forwarders.
The Vice Chairman of NAGAFF in the chapter, Fwdr. Ifeanyi Emon who spoke on behalf of the chapter members described Fwdr. Emeka Paul Chiedozie as a performing Chairman who had shown that leadership is about service to the people and humanity with his God given resources.
“We are very proud of him. Once again, congratulations and many more fruitful years in good health”, Emon said.
