The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to prioritize the conduct of a free, fair, and credible gubernatorial election in Imo State.

Speaking to journalists at the APGA National Secretariat Complex in Abuja, Barrister Ezeokenwa underscored the critical importance of upholding democratic principles and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process in Imo State. He expressed the need for a credible election that accurately represents the will and aspirations of the people.

Acknowledging the challenges that INEC has faced in previous elections, the APGA National Chairman commended their efforts to improve transparency while urging the commission to build upon their achievements and implement additional measures to enhance the credibility of elections in Imo State.

The APGA National Chairman specifically underlined the importance of a digital electoral system and sensitization initiatives, emphasizing the need to ensure that all eligible voters are well-informed about their rights and responsibilities. By prioritizing these efforts, INEC can empower voters to actively engage in the electoral process and make informed decisions without fear or confusion.

Barrister Ezeokenwa also called on INEC to demonstrate impartiality and neutrality among all political parties involved. He stressed the necessity of ensuring that the electoral process remains free from any form of undue influence or bias insisting that by doing so, faith in the democratic system can be preserved, and the outcomes of the election can genuinely reflect the true voice of the people of Imo State.
