…As Igwe Onyido receives honour as Anambra 2023 NUJ Man of The Year

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu are expected to attend the 2023 Press Week, Media summit and Anambra NUJ Man of The Year Award ceremony of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Anambra State Council in Awka on Thursday, 2nd November, 2023.
The National Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa is the Keynote Speaker. Ezeokenwa will speak on the theme, “Pragmatic Media Practice As An Antidote To Sustainable Development In A Distressed Economy: A Focus In Anambra State.”
The first female Professor of Mass Communication in Sub-saharan Africa, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna is the Chairman of the occasion.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman, NUJ Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, Media Chief Executives, captains of industry, media managers and regulators as well as traditional rulers are expected at the event.
Dr. Odogwu informed that the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Paul Nwosu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Aburime among other media handlers in the state are expected to grace the occasion.
The press week which started on Friday 27/10/23 with an interactive Session with the National Chairman of APGA by the NUJ (Journalists from print and Broadcast media, Online Publishers, and Bloggers), would also feature presentation of Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna Ethical Journalist for the year 2023 award to the yet to be determined winner.
Chairman and Secretary, Planning Committee, Dr. Njideka Ezeonyejiaku and Chukwuleta Chigozie said other activities marking the event are presentation of NUJ 2023 Anambra Man of the Year Award on Igwe (Pharm) Alex Uzo Onyido of Ogidi kingdom, while the 2022 NUJ Anambra Man of The Year, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, Deputy Managing Director, Zenith Bank shall give remarks even as the Chief Host and the National President, NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo is expected to play host to the guests.
There are other activities lined up for the week including visitations to 3 charity homes namely: Community Children Homes (Awka & Onitsha) and Sickle Cell community home, Agulu, as well as facility tour of Tiger Foods Company Limited, novelty match between the NUJ team and state judiciary team. There will also be NUJ Outreach to the challenged/ displaced communities in 3 senatorial zones and Karaoke Night/ Couples unification hour among others.
Various dance groups are expected to entertain guests.
