The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria, CICAN hady applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr. Muda Yusuf into the Board of Nigeria Custom Service, NCS.

The group says Dr. Yusuf’s appointment is well deserved considering the huge contribution of the seasoned economist to the nation’s economic discuss.

This fact is contained in a CICAN media statement signed by its National President, Mr. Charles Okonji and made available to the press recently.

The statement noted that CICAN is delighted with the appointment and praised the President for this appointment.

The statement pointed out that Tinubu’s well documented reputation as a talent hunt is apparent in the appointment, considering the fact that Dr. Yusuf is one of country’s foremost economists who have over the years consistently proffer solutions to the many economic issues the country has been grappling with over the years.

The statement postulated that Yusuf from his days at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI as the Director General to the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the Center of the Private Practice Enterprise, CPPE has shown that he understands the issues with the country’s economy and solutions to most of the problems.

The association said over the years, CICAN has engaged Dr. Yusuf and realized that the economist knows his onion, adding that the body hopes that the economist will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the Board of NCS.

CICAN, however, charged Yusuf to ensure he is able to bring his vast knowledge to bear in his new appointment to justify the confidence the president has in him.

The association stated that the NCS doesn’t enjoy much confidence from most Nigerian businesses and generality of the people due to so many wrongs the officials of the agency have been accused of over the years, adding that CICAN hopes Dr. Yusuf would contribute his quota to redeem the image of NCS.

The statement added that the private sector which Yusuf has championed its course for decades will be looking forward to seeing the developments and reforms he has advocated over the years.

CICAN said the association will continue to follow Dr. Yusuf and NCS to see how the agency will perform during the economist’s four year tenure in the NCS Board.
