Barely 48 hours to the much-anticipated Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria MARAN’s Annual Maritime Lecture, MAMAL, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, Executive Director, Operations and Technical of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited will deliver an address at the occasion.

Warredi will address the issue of Crude Oil Theft in the Gulf of Guinea Region: Emerging Threats and Actionable Steps – Perspectives of Operators.

Warredi, a seasoned maritime industry player and a former Director at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA will enumerate the challenges operators face in their day-to-day activities in the GoG and will join other stakeholders to provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to maritime crimes in the region.

Tantita, a key sponsor of MAMAL 2023 is one of the private security contractors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL and has been responsible for checkmating Crude Oil theft in the region.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, all roads will lead to Rockview Hotel in Apapa, Lagos for the maiden Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria’s (MARAN) Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL).

Among the list of confirmed attendees are Mr. Emmanuel Maiguwa, President of Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN); Prince Olayiwola Shittu, former President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); and Eugene Nweke, Secretary of the Customs Consultative Council (CCC).

Others are the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Prince Adewale Adeyanju, former Minister of Interior and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Integrated Oil and Gas Limited, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigeria Indigenous Shipowners Association (NISA), Chief Isaac Jolapamo amongst others.

The theme of the inaugural annual lecture is “Maritime Security: Emerging Threats and Actionable Steps,” aiming to provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG) region.

The event, endorsed by MARAN as the leading umbrella organization for journalists covering the Nigerian maritime sector, will focus on protecting seafaring and fishing communities in affected countries.

In a press statement released by MARAN’s President, Godfrey Bivbere, it was highlighted that the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and other maritime agencies have significantly reduced piracy incidents in Nigerian waters and the GoG throughout 2022. The Gulf of Guinea Maritime Collaboration Forum for Shared Awareness and Deconfliction (GOG-MCF/SHADE) has played a pivotal role in fostering regional cooperation and yielding tangible results in addressing piracy.
