The founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam has applauded the efforts of the Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to reposition the Service towards sustainable and more productive revenue collection organisation.
Aniebonam who gave the applause in a goodwill message to the Comptroller General on the occasion of the Comptroller General of Customs Conference 2023 holding in Lagos between the 14th and 15th December, 2023 noted that the task ahead in a corrupt society was indeed a great challenge while believing that hardwork and support of the greater numbers of the stakeholders shall be the tonic he required to achieve objective.
While urging him to keep the good work going, he said, “it is my belief that God shall assist you and the management team to make Nigeria great once again. Nigeria Customs Service and her officers are the first officers of the Federal Republic Nigeria.
“Under the circumstances, a lot is desirous of the officers and men of the Service to add value in our nation building and the economy in particular.
“It is my hope that thereafter this conference, the CGC and the management team shall take responsibility to bring about professionalism in the business of customs administration and facilitation of international trade.”
He, however, advised the Comptroller General to beware of the “avoidable rivalry” between NAGAFF and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA urging him to remain neutral in their affairs and concentrate on his statutory duty as the leader of the Nigeria Customs Service.
His words, “My little advice shall be that you watch the avoidable rivalry between NAGAFF and ANLCA. Therefore you may wish to remain neutral in their affairs and concentrate in your statutory duty as the leader of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“I wish you a successful conference while pledging the support and cooperation of NAGAFF during your tenure.”
