In the spirit of Christmas season, the Coordinator of Soludo Ambassadors, Anambra Central Senatorial District and an international businessman, Prince Obinna Ndigwe, on Monday at Umuokpu Village, Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State gave out bags of rice, tubers of yam and wrappers to over 2,000 widows, orphans, downtrodden as well as some members of Soludo Ambassadors.
The recipients of the goodies were drawn from the 7 Local Government Areas that make up Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Addressing the beneficiaries shortly before the distribution of the largesse, Prince Ndigwe expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life, saying that in every situation they should be thankful to their creator.
The philanthropist noted that the gesture was something he was doing every Christmas and that he would continue to carry it, even as he thanked the beneficiaries for turning out en masse to appreciate God with him, urging them not to despair but to place their hopes strongly in God.
Prince Ndigwe submitted he was not in any way campaigning for Soludo with the Christmas palliatives, even though he acknowledged that the Governor had done marvelously well in facets of the state’s economy and needed to be re-elected for a second term in office.
“I am giving back to society. I love helping widows because my mother is a widow. I do it every Christmas, sometimes twice a year. I am here to celebrate with the destitute, widows and orphans. You can see the numbers here and they’ll all benefit from the items. I am giving out 400 bags of rice, 500 tubers of yam and wrappers to them. It is my own little way of identifying with the less-privileged and widows.
“This is me celebrating with my people. It is not politics. Soludo has done well. I see no reason we’ll not support his second term ambition. Awka is wearing a new look courtesy of Soludo. Move around and see wonders Soludo is doing in Awka and beyond. I’m yet to see that person from Awka that will vote against Soludo on the election day.
In their separate speeches, the National Coordinator of Soludo Ambassadors, High Chief Obiora Nwachukwu, an indigene of Umuokpu, Mr. Gregory Onyemaechi Okoye as well as a widow, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nwaebena extolled Prince Ndigwe for his magnanimity and generosity. They prayed to God to continue to guide, protect and uplift him.
Others who attended the function included the National Coordinator, High Chief Obiora Nwachukwu; Deputy National Coordinator, Hon. Chibuzo Ekwenye, Awka South APGA Chair, Barr. Lawrence Chinedu, National Woman Leader, Chief Hon. Vera Atuigwe, the Media Director of Soludo Ambassadors, Dr. Ijeoma Onuorah, MC Sacramento Ekwueme, among others.
Distribution of the gift items, award of scholarships to indigent pupils and students formed the highpoints of occasion.
