The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Sir Humphrey Nwafor, says that the year 2024 will be a promising and fulfilling year for Anambra workers, emphasizing that the state’s workforce deserved to be adequately taken care of.

In his new year message to Anambra workers, Comrade Nwafor urged them to redouble their efforts and also ensure promptness and sincerest actions in the discharge of their duties.

The NLC Boss enjoined Anambra workers in various ministries, parastatals and LGAs to work assiduously towards achieving the present government mantra of a liveable and prosperous homeland, even as he extolled them for their inputs in the out-gone year and also for numerous seen and unseen sacrifices.

Sir Nwafor who doubles as the Chairman of NASU Anambra State Council noted that the contributions of the workforce cannot be overemphasized and called on the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s led Anambra State government to look into the workers’ welfare, working conditions and fashioned out ways to provide a commensurate packages for the workers and retirees.

He urged the Governor to look into the workers’ clamour for a living wage rather than the much talked about minimum wage, which he said no longer takes them home.

The labour leader, while calling for serious adjustments on workers’ welfare, acknowledged that the Governor had done reasonably well in the year 2023 and had shown that he had the workers’ interests at heart.

He called on the workers to ensure that the government gets corresponding values from their inputs and outputs, saying that the more they increased their tempo the more the government would be addressing the challenges confronting them.

Sir Nwafor asked the workers to always look up to the NLC leadership in the state for direction and guidance. He prayed for a bountiful and prosperous 2024 for all and sundry, promising that they would continue to work towards ensuring a peaceful co-existence and industrial harmony in Anambra State.
