…Warns entity not same as NIDO-Europe, Russia chapter
The Nigerians In Diaspora Organization, NIDO Russia has warned the general public particularly the press both in Nigeria and Russia to be wary of an entity known as NIDO-Russia led by one Dr. Godwin Ibe masquerading itself as the Nigerians In Diaspora Organization, NIDO Russia with the intent to deceive the unsuspecting public.
The Chairman, NIDO Russia and Member of the Board, NIDO Europe, Sampson Uwem-Edimo who gave this warning in a disclaimer in Zoom meeting held on Thursday, explained that the so called “NIDO-Russia” which Dr. Godwin Ibe led was not the same as the “Nigerians In Diaspora Organization Europe, Russia chapter (NIDO-Russia)’ led by himself and recognized the NIDO Europe and the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM.
“We therefore, dissociate ourselves from all comments, interviews, and public presentations that had been made by this individual and regard his actions as fraudulent as he had no authorization to represent NIDO Russia “, Uwem-Edimo said.
Speaking on the coining of name, Uwem-Edimo described Dr. Godwin Ibe’s outfit as a private initiative with the mission to assist migrants adapt in Russia adding that “This outfit has been mischievously coined as “NIDO”, alas not as an abbreviation of its name, he went further to unofficially add a suffix “Russia” to his short alias to form and sound “NIDO-Russia.”
He continued, “Whereas, in our case, NIDO-Russia is an abbreviation of our full name (Nigerians In Diaspora Organization Europe, Russia chapter), but in Godwin’s case, the NIDO is a word, an alias of his organization. This coined alias, (shorter name) was intended to confuse the unsuspecting public and spite the mainstream organization of Nigerians In Diaspora Organization in Russia (NIDO-Russia) which is the entity that has existed long before Dr. Godwin Ibe even graduated from primary school or dreamt of coming to Russia to study.”
On cloning and illegal use of NIDO logo, he said, “Aside from mischievously giving his entity a short alias as “NIDO-Russia”, Dr. Godwin Ibe has also been portraying his organization as the chapter of the known Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in Russia by cloning and using our logo and similar name of our website. All these steps are intentionally taken by Dr. Godwin Ibe to draw traffic to his website, make his position prominent and benefit from the goodwill and popularity of our organization among Nigerians and the Russian public. We have now also discovered that he had been rendering some paid commercial services under this banner, while of course, throwing some scrums to the public as free services. Which means our logo is being used to generate income for his outfit.
“This disclaimer and clarification has become necessary because of the numerous complaints from our members, partners and stakeholders in Russia and elsewhere who are being impacted by the activities of the so called “NIDO-Russia” of Dr. Godwin Ibe. Our attention has also been drawn to many political engagements, some of which could backfire on our position as non-partisan organization and non – aligned in geographical posture.
“We, therefore, call on the public, particularly the press in Nigeria and Russia to be wary of this situation and avoid being misled to misrepresent our organization by presenting and transmitting Dr. Godwin Ibe’s NIDO-Russia as ‘Nigerians In Diaspora Organization Russia.’ Dr. Godwin Ibe’s NIDO-Russia is neither known to NIDO-Europe nor NiDCOM as one of the structures (chapters) of the mainstream NIDO in Russia.
“Currently, the only authentic NIDO-Russia (www.nidorussia.com) known to all the structures of NIDO in the continental/global (https://www.nidoeurope.org/nidoe-chapters/nido-russia/) level is the one being led by Hon. Uwem-Edimo Friday Sampson. Going forward, we are warning anyone unknowingly working or collaborating with the so called ‘NIDO-Russia’ of Dr. Godwin Ibe is doing so to their peril.”
