The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Anambra State Chapter, Dr. Valentine Iyke Oliobi, on Sunday 8th April, 2024, alongside his siblings celebrated their mother, Ezinne Cecilia Nwanyibuife Anthony-Oliobi, who turned 78.
The sumptuous event preceded by Eucharistic celebration held at St. Vincent Catholic Church, Ifiteani Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, had friends, well-wishers as well as the political associates of Dr. Val Oliobi otherwise known as Ikemba Nimo in attendance.
Addressing his guests, Dr. Oliobi expressed gratitude to God for sustaining his mother, saying that his mother saw them through thick and thin. He stated that his mother delved into a lot of menial jobs shortly after losing her husband just to put food on their table.
“My mother suffered so much for us just to see us survive. She was in the farm and was alerted that her son she left at home before going to the farm had died. You can imagine that. The pains she went through. We are here today to celebrate her for her sacrifices and steadfastness.
“We were all born in Enugu Nigeria and came back home in 1984. Shortly after that, our father died. We started early in life to feel the absence of fatherhood. Our mother took over from there and strived to train all of us. She gave birth to 9 children and today we are 7 remaining and these children are all graduates.
“Today is very remarkable. She just returned from the UK and would be going back after the celebration. We want to celebrate our mother while she still alive and healthy not when she is long gone”, he said.
In their separate speeches, the State Chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike, a philanthropist from the community, UrukanaChukwu Innocent Iguh and Chief Emeka Asimonye described Ezinne Cecilia Nwanyibuife Anthony-Oliobi as a model and a mother worthy of emulation.
“We are here today to felicitate with Ikemba’s mother. She is truly a careful and selfless mother. We are happy that her children are celebrating her today. It is a thing of joy”, they concluded
Highpoints of the event was the distribution of wrappers to one hundred and seventy Nimo women (Mother’s co-wives) and women from Abba community (Mother’s sisters), group photographs, musical interlude, refreshments, among others.
