CP Adeoye Pays Parting, Thank You Visit To NUJ Anambra State Council, Reels Out Achievements

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, recently, paid a parting and thank you visit to the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, during its April Congress.

The Union hosted the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Aderemi Adeoye as he prepares to bow out of service in May this year.

The special interactive session with the theme, “Finishing Strong”, was held in honour of the Police Commissioner to appreciate him for his efforts in combating crimes and criminalities during his years of Service.

In his opening remarks, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, commended CP Adeoye for his efforts and initiatives in combating crime and providing security since he assumed office as the Police Commissioner in the State last year.

He observed with delight the successes recorded under the CP’s watch which he attributed to his initiatives and doggedness in fighting insecurity in the State.

Comrade Odogwu also recalled that the state government recently honoured the CP by naming a street after him and congratulated him on the honour.

The NUJ Chairman noted that CP Adeoye has succeeded in fostering peace to a large extent in Anambra and also peace between police officers and residents, asserting that he is impressively moving towards finishing strong in his policing career.

On the activities of the state government, the NUJ Chairman, on behalf of the Union, extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo for restoring pipe-borne water in the State after over 16 years, urging the Governor to sustain further reticulation of pipe borne water.

On other matters of interest, the Congress observed the upsurge in street begging, especially those using underage children and sick persons, and urged the state government to take measures to check the trend.

It was observed that such practice not only defaces the capital city, but also exposes the children to danger and can also jeopardize their future.

During his presentation, the CP used the opportunity to tell his success stories and respond to questions raised by journalists on security issues.

CP Adeoye represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Akin Fakorede, made some clarifications on some security-related issues in the State, and also recounted the efforts and achievements of the Command in addressing the issues to further strengthen the general security of the State.

He intimated that the Command recently introduced some new proactive policing strategies and initiatives, while sustaining the raid on certain flash points in its fight against insecurity.

CP Adeoye expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship between the media and the Police Command, as well as the support the Command received from the media which he noted contributed significantly to the successes recorded by the Command.

According to him, his leadership in the state’s police command brought about improved human relations and welfare of officers which restored their confidence in the force.

He maintained that the command is nipping crime in the bud and mapping out strategies to end killings and kidnapping in various areas of the state, pointing out that Anambra State is relatively peaceful compared to what it use to be before he came.

Commenting, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spoke also on some specific giant strides made by the Command said measures put in place to encourage preventive policing have yielded positive results.

He spoke on some recent steps including the raiding and destruction of insurgents’ camps at Achalla, Ogbunka, Aguluezechukwu, Ogboji among others as well as rescuing of kidnapped victims, recovering of three beretta pistols from cultists at Ogidi and Ekwulobia, among other arms and ammunition.

Ikenga also mentioned the recovery of weapons at Awada, and other insurgents’ camps and locations.

He further emphasized on the importance of stakeholders engagement and collaboration with the command and assured of sustained synergy with the media and other relevant agencies to further enhance security of lives and property of Ndị Anambra.

According to him, CP Adeoye’s massive achievements made the state government to approve naming a street after him which has never happened before.
