Following the call for adequate health care delivery across all the 179 communities in Anambra State by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, a philanthropist and an illustrious son of Umuoji, in Idemili North Local Government Area, Engineer Linus Ilozue recently built and handed over a 7-room health care facility equipped with solar energy, drugs and other basic amenities to Achalagu Community Umuoji.
Commissioning the health centre, the Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, Mr. Afam Obidike, represented by the Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Anambra State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr. Uliagbafusi Placid Nnamdi commended Umuoji community, especially Engr. Ilozue for mooting the idea of bringing down health care services to his hometown and also for equipping it to standard, stating that the government of Anambra State was deeply impressed with the gesture, describing it as typical harkening of the akulue uno mantra and call of Governor Soludo led administration.
He announced that some newly recruited health personnel would be posted to the centre for the day-to-day running of the health centre as well as the efficient and effective administration of quality health care services to the people.
In an interview, the President General of Umuoji Improvement Union of Nigeria, UIUN, Chief Sir Ifeanyi Muoemenam expressed gratitude to God Almighty for giving and blessing Engr. Ilozue with the needed resources to bequeath to Umuoji such an all-important facility, assuring that the community under his watch would provide adequate security to the Centre.
The community leader charged the people of Umuoji to take ownership of the Centre, saying that securing of the facility should be everyone’s responsibility.
In their separate speeches, the Regent of Umuoji, High Chief Christopher Nnedu; the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Mike Anagu; the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Umuoji Ward, Hon. Gilbert Okoye and the Chairman of Achalagu Community, Hon. Nonso Ekpunobi called on other wealthy individuals to emulate Engr. Ilozue, even as they described the health centre as a welcome development, saying that what they described as a laudable gesture would spur others on to do more exploits in Umuoji.
Appreciation by the Officer -In-Charge of the health centre, Onyekwulume Ifeoma Anthonia, commissioning of health centre, facility tour, speeches, exchange of pleasantries, refreshments formed the highpoints of the event.
