…Condemns INEC Court claim, declares Edozie Njoku’s leadership void
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, United Kingdom chapter has expressed great concern over the recent declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, recognizing Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA.
The chapter, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Peter Odirachukwumma Ezekeli, also known as Sympathy, observed that the decision contradicted the will of the party members who duly elected Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa as the authentic National Chairman.
Noting that APGA is a political party with a robust foundation, built on the principles and values envisioned by its founding fathers, the statement maintained that the Party is greater than any individual and cannot be trampled upon by those who do not have the party’s best interests at heart.
“Our constitution is the guiding document through which we operate, and any action outside its purview is null and void.
“APGA is one indivisible entity and will never entertain any form of factionalism. We strongly believe that anyone unwilling or unable to adhere to the party’s constitution and respect its aims, vision, mission, and objectives should peacefully exit the party. There is no place in APGA for those who seek to undermine the legacy and dreams of our founding fathers”, it stated.
The statement disclosed that APGA UK Chapter has been closely following developments at the national level and wishes to categorically assure the general public that there is no cause for alarm adding that “Our party remains united and strong under the leadership of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, who was legitimately handed the banner of leadership by the former Chairman, Chief Victor Ike Oye.”
The statement queried, “How did Edozie Njoku suddenly emerge as the national chairman? Where did he obtain his mandate? Who handed him the party banner? Which court order did INEC rely upon to recognize Edozie Njoku? Could INEC have possibly monitored two APGA conventions held on the same day?
“The essence of democracy lies in the people’s ability to freely choose their leaders. It is not the role of a few individuals to impose leadership on party members, as this runs counter to the very principles upon which APGA was founded. As a civilized and organized political party, APGA rejects any attempt to subvert its democratic processes.”
The APGA UK Chapter, however, called on Edozie Njoku and his group to reconsider their actions and support the legitimate leadership of Barr. Ezeokenwa insisting that “Only by standing united under the banner of true and authentic leadership can APGA achieve its goals and continue to grow as a strong political force in Nigeria.”
“We remain committed to the values and principles that have made APGA a formidable party, and we will continue to support leadership that upholds these ideals”, the statement concluded.
