In a society where collective action often drives progress, the Government Secondary School, Afikpo Old Boys Association, Port Harcourt Branch, is setting a commendable example. Their recent event, marked by gratitude, reflection, and recognition, highlighted the importance of unity and purpose in addressing societal challenges.

The gathering, held with pomp and significance, began with an opening remark by the association’s president, Dr. Anthony Oko Ikpor. He emphasized that the event was not merely a time for relaxation but a moment of thanksgiving for a successful year. Reflecting on their achievements, Dr. Ikpor pointed out that the association had successfully carried out several community outreaches earlier in the year, initiatives that showcased the power of collaboration and giving back.

He went on to acknowledge the contributions of the senior members of the Association who laid the foundation for the association’s vision. “Their pioneering spirit and commitment to our mission continue to inspire us”, he remarked.

The event served as a platform to reaffirm the association’s dedication to societal impact. A detailed presentation by Mr. Nnanna Uwakwe, an old boy of the school, highlighted the group’s mission and vision, focusing on areas where improvements could amplify their efforts. He reiterated the importance of fostering change within their membership and extending this impact to the wider community.

Chief Engr. Dr. Obadiah Ezenekwe, a senior member of the association, spoke passionately about the group’s societal contributions. He noted how the members’ diverse professional backgrounds positioned them uniquely to tackle unemployment and empower others. “Through initiatives like our outreaches, we aim to elevate lives, even if it’s just in small ways”, he said.
