…Pledges Support

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria, MARAN has applauded the recent appointment and decoration of Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka as the Acting Customs Area Controller, CAC of the Tincan Island Port Customs Command, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional career achievements.

The CAC was decorated with the rank of Comptroller of Customs at the Customs headquarters on Wednesday by the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.

The association has also pledged support for his leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the command to greater heights.

In a letter dated January 13, 2025, and signed by MARAN President, Godfrey Bivbere, the association commended his recent promotion, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his professional achievements and dedication. MARAN expressed confidence in Onyeka’s ability to excel in his new role, citing his impressive career trajectory and commitment to excellence.

The letter highlighted Onyeka’s academic achievements, which include a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. These qualifications, combined with his vast experience, are expected to enhance his capacity to provide outstanding leadership at the Tincan Island Port Customs Command.

MARAN praised Onyeka’s intellectual brilliance, strong work ethics, and exceptional leadership skills, expressing optimism that these attributes would drive the command’s success in critical areas such as revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts.

Reflecting on Onyeka’s career, MARAN acknowledged the significant contributions he made in previous roles, including Officer-in-Charge of the Premier Port Gate and the Onne Port Federal Ocean Terminal, FOT Gate. In these positions, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to boost revenue, improve operational efficiency, and enforce compliance with customs regulations.

MARAN expressed confidence that he will build on these successes to further strengthen the Tincan Island Port Customs Command.

The association pledged its support for Comptroller Onyeka in his new role, promising to collaborate with the command to achieve greater milestones in trade facilitation and customs administration.
