APFFLON Felicitates Customs CG, Adeniyi Over Election As Chairman WCO Council

The Africa Association Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria, APFFLON has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi over his election, Saturday, in Brussels, as the Chairman of the World Customs Organisation, WCO Council.

APFFLON, in a statement signed by its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite in Lagos on Sunday described the emergence of Adeniyi as the Chairman, WCO Council as a testament to his exceptional leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to enhancing global customs standards and practices.

It maintained that Adeniyi’s vast experience and profound understanding of the complexities of international trade and customs would undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to the organization.

“This is a remarkable achievement not only for you but also for Nigeria as it signifies our nation’s growing influence in the global arena.

“As you embark on this new chapter, I am confident that your vision will guide the World Customs Organization towards innovative solutions and collaborative partnerships that benefit all member countries.

“Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved honor. I wish you tremendous success in your new role and look forward to witnessing the positive impact of your leadership on the global customs community”, the association said.

It will be recalled that the spokesman of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada who broke the news in a release said the election was held during the concluding session of the 145th/146th WCO Council Meetings held on Saturday, 28th June, 2025 at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels. 

According to Maiwada, the WCO Council is the highest decision-making body in global customs administration.
