Barr. Mrs. Benedicta Ahunna Nwagbara, late wife of the Managing Partner, Maritime and Commercial Law Partners, Barr. Osuala Emmanuel Nwagbara has been laid to rest at her country home, Ekwe in Imo State.
Mrs. Nwagbara who died after a protracted illness on the 3rd of March, 2018 at the age of 45 was an Accountant, a tax Consultant and the first female lawyer in Ekwe town.
Speaking in a homily during a requiem mass in her honour at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mbato in Imo State, Rev. Fr. Franklin Iwunwa described the deceased as a woman of faith who held unto her faith until death adding that she had conquered death and had gone to be with her maker.
Fr. Iwunwa however admonished Christians to always spend more time in preparing for death than they do avoiding death saying that death is a debt every human, Christians and non-Christians alike owe which they must pay one day.
He urged Christians not to mourn like those who have no hope even as he added that Christ through his death had conquered death which came into the world as a result of Adam’s disobedient to God.
Speaking to Primetime Reporters, the husband of the deceased, Barr. Osuala Emmanuel Nwagbara described his late wife as a drum major for peace and unity adding that she loved seeing the poor and the needy being helped and lifted.
He further described her as one who took her time in everything she did and was never in a hurry noting that she believed in providence and was never anxious over anything.
“She had iron will and was never afraid of any situation. Even in the face of knowledge that cancer had no cure, she kept her head high and was positive in her thoughts. Her memory never failed her up to the last minute of her life. Nwanyioma loved and wanted the best for her children. Her greatest pain was that she did not live to see them grow and develop”, he said.
Also speaking, Esogibe Ekene described the death of his sister as a hugely and significant sad event in his life saying that 3rd of March, 2018 marked a day he lost a sister with a great virtue, substance and exceptional quality.
“Your demise at this youthful age is unacceptable by all standards, a very pathetic situation but God knows it all. A woman with a promising future, one whose personal conviction is undeterred no matter the circumstances, I mean a caring and lovely sister who epitomizes hope, courage and determination to excel in all endeavors”, he said.
A delegation from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) led by the Deputy Director Compliance Monitoring, Chief Cajethan Agu, the Maritime Community, Knight and Laux of St. John International, St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Lagos, Eze in-Council among others were on hand to pay their last respect to the deceased and to mourn with one of their own.
