Former officer of the Nigerian Army, Captain Casmir Nwafor (rtd) has condemned in strong terms the arrest of faithful praying at the residence of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the security agencies.
Nwafor who is seeking to represent the people of Orumba North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives in the 2019 general elections made this known in a statement he issued in Lagos yesterday pointing out that there was nowhere in the law books of Nigeria where praying had been declared a terrorist activity.
He regretted the development where lives and property had been lost to attacks by Fulani Herdsmen while the regime in Nigeria had not deemed it fit to declare the group a terrorist organization even as he warned that there is a limit to which a man can be pushed to the wall.
Nwafor who is also a lawyer maintained that it won’t be business as usual in the way the government of President Muhammadu Buhari treats IPOB and other Pro-Biafran groups arguing that it was internationally recognized right for any group to seek self-determination.
The statement reads,” Whatever made the security agencies to invade Nnamdi Kanu’s house again and arrest praying faithful in the compound is very condemnable. There is nowhere in the law books of Nigeria where praying has being declared a terrorist activity. We live in a country where lives and property have been lost to deplorable called Fulani Herdsmen but the incompetent regime in Nigeria has not deemed it fit to declare the group a terrorist organization. There is a limit to which a man can be pushed to the wall.
“Whoever has any sympathy for this evil regime should send a message to it that it won’t be business as usual in the way it treats IPOB and other Pro-Biafran groups. It’s internationally recognized for any group to seek self-determination. A country that seeks independence for the Palastinians and part of Morroco should not detest same in its own country. Charity they say must begin at home. A word is enough for the wise”.
