…Warns policemen against partisanship

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, has assured Lagosians of the police readiness to provide watertight security during the All Progressive Congress Governorship Primaries which will hold on Saturday, September 29, 2018 across the local government areas of the state.

The CP who gave this assurance in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer in Lagos yesterday, CSP Chike Oti, urged party faithful to be law-abiding and steer clear from any conduct that can jeopardize free, fair and peaceful conduct of the election.

He advised the aspirants to talk to their supporters to shun violence adding that any person caught engaging in acts capable of constituting a breach of the public peace will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

To ensure adequate security across the state during the exercise, the CP will hold meetings with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of departments to ensure that due diligence is followed during the primaries.

The command according to CP Edgal, as usual, will refrain from any partisan practice even as he urged men and officers not to compromise the credible conduct of the exercise.

The CP stressed that severe punishment will be meted out to any policeman who meddles in the election.

He therefore enjoined members of the public to promptly alert the police to any act that may threaten the credible and peaceful conduct of the exercise.
