Following complaints of indiscriminate removal and destruction of campaign posters, banners and billboards of political parties and those of the aspirants by unknown persons, the authorities of the Lagos Police command, after due consultation with relevant stakeholders have directed that henceforth pasting of campaign posters, billboards and other advertisements should be done during the day time, between the hours of 6.00am and 6.00pm only.
A statement by the spokesman of the command, CSP Chike Oti disclosed that it was alleged that those involved in this act usually operates at odd hours, particularly between 1.00am and 4.00am arguing that the trend if not reversed, may lead to break down of law and order with its attendant consequences.
It therefore directed that all political parties and candidates should approach the Lagos State Advertising Agency (LASAA) for guidelines and approvals of their adverts.
It however added that LASAA officials should be accompanied by policemen when carrying out their enforcement and compliance duty even as it stated that all political parties, candidates as well as their agents were to be guided by the contents of this press release in order not to run foul of the law.
