…Another arresting for defiling girl, 14
The Lagos State Police command has arrested one Mr. Kabiru Oke, Male, 44 years old, of No 1 Olatikupo Street, Egbeda and his son, Oke Faruq, Male, 19 years old of the same address for raping and impregnating a 13 year old girl (name withheld) in the Egbeda area of Lagos State.
Trouble started for the duo when the mother of the victim (name withheld), on the 27th of March, 2019, lodged a complaint to the Gender Unit of the command against the husband of her elder sister Kabiru Oke and his son, Oke Faruq for serially raping and impregnating her daughter.
It was gathered that the victim lived with the perpetrators for a couple of years.
Confirming the arrest, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police command, Mr. Bala Elkana said that the unholy affairs between the minor and the first suspect started on 20th October, 2018 with the suspect having constant sexual intercourse with the survivor while the second suspect, being the son of the first suspect started having unlawful carnal knowledge of the same minor on 10th January, 2019.
Elkana added that the suspects had constantly threatened to kill the victim if she ever tells anybody about the affairs adding that he victim exposed them when her mother suspected some changes in her and discovered that she is pregnant.
“The survivor was taken to Mirabel Centre by our Gender Unit for medical examination. The two suspects were arrested and charged to Magistrate Court 2, Ogba for defilement. The case was adjourned for 13th May, 2019 while the suspects were remanded in Kirikiri prison”, he said.
In a related development, the Public Relations of Officer of the Lagos State Police command, Mr. Bala Elkana, Deputy Superintendent of Police, has confirmed the arrest of one Marainerume Alfred, Male, 45 years old, of Oke Itunu Church Close, Ejigbo for defiling a 14 year old girl.
He noted that the matter was reported to Gender Unit of the command by the mother of the victim while explaining that the complainant stated that they live in the same street with the suspect and that the suspect usually call the victim into his shop while on her way back from school, along Iyana Ejigbo Road Lagos, were he sells Nigerian Films and have unlawful sexual intercourse with her in the shop.
He continued,” The crime started from May 2018 up to 27 March 2019. The suspect, in his statement to Police, revealed that he turned the survivor into his sex partner after he divorce his wife in May 2018.
“The matter was discovered on 27th March, 2019 at about 1400hrs, by the survivor’s grandmother who perceived some odours from the body of the survivor when she returned home and subjected her to questioning. The survivor opened up to her grandmother and narrated the whole story. She further stated that, the suspect threatened that she will die if she ever discloses it to her parents.
“That the suspect usually give her some drugs to take and equally mix salt and water for her to take after sex, to prevent her from getting pregnant. Investigation is ongoing, suspect will be charged to Court for defilement”.
