Man in Police net for allegedly killing one year old girl

…As Police arrest four suspected cultists, recover firearms

The Lagos State Police command has arrested one Isiaka Ayobami of No. 2 Ayo Ijaiye Street, Isheri, Lagos for allegedly killing a one year old girl, Nana Aishat Isiaka.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bala Elkana on Sunday explained that at about 6.50pm on Saturday, one Alhaji Garuba Isiaka of No. 7 Ayo Ijaiye Street reported at Police station that on the same date, at about 6.00pm, while at Berger he received a phone call from his younger brother, Alhaji Mohammad Isiaka that the suspect forcefully seized his daughter named Nana Aishat Isiaka from the mother and hit her on the ground.

The statement noted that the baby’s head was shattered and she died on the spot.

It added that the suspect was almost lynched by angry mobs from the area, if not for the timely intervention of the Police.

“He will be charged to Court for murder”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, four suspects namely, Dare Taiwo, 26, Ayomide Adebanjo, 22, Odunayo Akinsanmi, 28 and Babatunde Akinsomi, 32 have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police command.

According to the spokesman of the command, DSP Bala Elkana, at about 6.30pm on Saturday, Alapere Police Station received credible information that some hoodlums suspected to be cultists, lodged at Money Mack Hotel, Oshogu area, Alapere, Ketu.

He informed that on the receipt of the information, a team of detectives was swiftly mobilized to the scene leading to the arrest of the four suspects.

“On searching the suspects, one locally made pistol was recovered. Investigation is in progress. The suspects will be charged to Court”, he said.
