The Wife of the Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) has commiserated with the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi over the death of Rev. Fr. Edmund Nwagbala, who died in the unfortunate fire incident at St. Peter Claver Parish, Nnewi Ichi in Nnewi-North LGA, on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

In a statement by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Emeka Ozumba, Mrs. Obiano who expressed the condolences on behalf of her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) and Anambra women said, “I am deeply grieved by the sad loss of late Rev. Fr. Nwagbala, a kind and humane priest who will be dearly missed by his parishioners, the Nnewi Catholic Diocese and his close relatives. I pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.”

Furthermore, Obiano stated that she is saddened by the recent fire incidents in the state and more recently the St. Peter Claver Parish fire outbreak which claimed the life of Rev. Fr. Nwagbala.

She however noted that the obvious improvement in the response to emergencies by relevant agencies in the state will help prevent future occurrences.

Consoling those affected, Mrs. Obiano urged them to take heart and grieve no more. She also commended the resilience of ndi Anambra and the commitment of the government to the security of lives and property and called on residents to continue to be their brothers and sisters keepers.
