Worried by the ravaging impact of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has donated the sum of Five Million Naira (N5, 000, 000) to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and another Five Million Naira(N5, 000, 000) to the Lagos State Government.

NIWA in a statement issued in Lokoja yesterday by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Tayo Fadile noted that the gesture was part of her Corporate Social Responsibility.

It noted that the gesture would help government fight the killer virus with more vigor and determination.

“The Management also urged all Nigerians to obey government directives on Covid -19, as the only way to restore sanity and ensure safety and well-being of everybody in the country”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of NIWA, Chief George Muoghalu has directed that NIWA’s infrastructures; Ferry terminals, Dockyards, River ports, Jetties, Water Crafts, Barges and Tug boats nationwide should be sanitized and the highest level of hygiene maintained.
