NIS arrests Camerounian for unlawful possession of multiple Passports

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested a 42 year old Camerounian, Kouaha Dieudonne over unlawful possession of multiple Passports.

The suspect was arrested by the Border Patrol officers at Yala Border Patrol base in Cross River State while carrying out routine check to forestall irregular migration across the border in view of the border closure by the federal government to curb further spread of Covid-19.

While briefing the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, MFR, the Comptroller of the Cross River command, Okey Ezugwu stated that the Camerounian was apprehended with multiple passports of different countries which were not his own adding that two (2) of the passports; a Camerounian and Guinea-Bissau passport bearing his name and the other five (5) Nigerian passports belonging to other persons were found in his possession.

According to a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. James Sunday, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service has ordered for thorough investigation and report on the arrest, while commending the Comptroller of the Cross River command and the officers at Yala Border Patrol for a job well done and display of professionalism, shunning inducement to effect the arrest.

The arrested migrant, according the statement would be prosecuted after necessary charges were established for his prosecution in line with Immigration law.
