CRFFN set to wade into ANLCA crisis

Following the protracted leadership crisis that has engulfed the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has said that it will intervene with the intent of resolving whatever the cause of the crisis is.

It will be recalled that ANLCA has been thrown into crisis since the election of the current National President, Chief Tony Iju in an election that saw him beating the then incumbent Vice President of the association, Mr. Emenike Nwokeoji in March 2018.

The crisis which has defied every peace move initiated by the National President and some concerned stakeholders yesterday took another dimension as hired hoodlums invaded the National Secretariat of the association located at the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos causing various degrees of damage to the secretariat and carting away the sum of two million Naira.

Reacting to the recent turn of event in the association, the Registrar of CRFFN, Barr. Samuel Nwakohu stated that the Council was concerned with the unfolding crisis in the association.

Nwakohu however revealed he had not received any formal request from the association neither had anybody written him to say what the problems were adding that he was reading about the crisis from the pages of the newspapers and on online news platforms just like every other person.

In his words, “We are very concerned. Just the same way you read it on newspapers and online, that is the same way I have read it. We are going to hold a management meeting in the course of the week and agree on how to intervene in that.

“I have not received any formal request from the association neither has anybody written to us to say these are the problems but we know there is crisis going on. We know the court has given judgement on certain issues. We are also aware that the Police are doing their work.

“As concerned regulators, we will wade in to see what we can do to quench the crisis.”
