The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has hinted that it would seek the suspension of demurrage and rent on behalf of shippers.
The Head, Public Relations of the Council, Rakiya Zubairu who disclosed this in a statement in Lagos on Thursday quoted the Executive Secretary NSC, Mr. Hassan Bello as saying that the terrible condition of the roads had made it impossible for shippers to clear goods from terminals within the 3 days allowed as well as return empty containers within 4 days.
The statement noted that the condition of the roads had resulted in a standstill traffic around the ports thereby frustrating the ability of the shippers to perform their obligations.
