The Journalists International Forum for Migration, JIFORM, on Wednesday requested for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from the Asia- Pacific Institute of Broadcasting, Malaysia on the training of Journalists on diverse areas.
The President of JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi, in a letter addressed to the AIBD, said this was imperative as over 300 Journalists under the aegis of the global media body were eager for exposure and career development.
On why he muted the idea, he said, he had consulted with the office of the AIBD Director, Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam after featuring at the maiden African Migration Summit organized by the JIFORM in partnership with the NEKOTECH Center of Excellence in Accra, Ghana between February 25 and 26, this year.
Ajibola, whom was commended by the AIBD for his presentation described as excellent on “Forging Forward: Solution Driven Media Reporting on Migration and Refugees”, during a webinar conference beamed from Malaysia on March 23 said his priority as the leader of JIFORM was to create a path for career progression for his peers.
The event was powered by the AIBD, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and World Health Organization (WHO) with the participation of several international media executives and migration advocates that focused on dispelling of misinformation about migration and refugees.
“There are talents yet to be unbundled in JIFORM from several nations. We are ready to work with international agencies to develop potentials of our members”, Ajibola said.
