In continuation of the fight against smuggling, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B Kaduna has presented a record of its stewardship in the last two weeks covering the period of March 22, 2021 to April 8, 2021.
The Customs Area Controller, FOU Zone B Kaduna, Comptroller Al-Bashir Hamisu in a parley with newsmen last Friday in his office at the FOU Zone B headquarters, Kaduna, revealed that the Unit made a total of thirty-nine (39) seizures within the period.
Comptroller Hamisu added that the seizures with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of fifty-one million, four hundred and ninety-nine thousand, seven hundred and ninety-nine Naira, fifty-eight Kobo (N51,499,799.58), included eight hundred and one (801) bags of foreign parboiled rice in 50kg rice and thirty-eight (38) bags in 25kg of same item.
According to the Controller, a total of one hundred and eighty (180) cartons of foreign spaghetti, eighty-one (81) kegs of foreign vegetable oil, seventy-four (74) cartons of foreign Giv and Eva foreign Soap, forty-eight (48) bales of secondhand clothes, twenty-eight (28) cartons of Ginny Creamer and eight 8 vehicles (means of conveyance) were intercepted amongst other contraband.
He informed that the contrabands were intercepted by various patrol teams of the Unit at various locations in the Zone that comprise 10 states of the federation and the FCT.
Comptroller Hamisu once again reiterated his call for the public to partner with the Unit in its campaign to rid the country of smuggling.
