Anambra State Government on Monday reiterated the ban on the use of vehicles with tinted glasses in the state as a measure to curb resurging insecurity in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba who made this known in a statement in Awka, Anambra State capital on Monday, reminded the residents of the state as well as travellers passing through the state that the ban is still in force with exception of those permitted by the law enforcement agencies.
Adinuba however, advised that those using such vehicles were required to wind down all their glasses at each security checkpoint so that security officers on duty could see the persons in the vehicles very well.
According to him, “It is necessary to wind down all glasses because almost all the attacks in recent times on security officers discharging their legitimate duties in Anambra State have been carried out by criminals in vehicles with darkened glasses. The glasses help to hide criminals, their weapons and ammunition.
“In the same manner, motorists travelling at night are advised to put on all their inner lights once they approach a checkpoint. Law-abiding citizens should not hesitate to comply with this simple requirement which aids law enforcement agents in the discharge of their responsibility to society.”
He re-emphasized the resolve of the Anambra State Government to make the state remain the safest and most peaceful state in the country noting that “our safe environment has enabled an impressive investment flow in our state in the last seven years.”
“The State Government will, therefore, continue to take every step to protect all our people and make life more abundant for them”, he further said.
