The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has sent out heartily felicitations to Nigeria’s first female Governor, Dame Virginia Etiaba, CON as she clocks 79 years.
Dame Etiaba, who hails from Nnewi North LGA, Anambra state was the governor of Anambra state between November 2006 to February 2007.
In her goodwill message, Ekwunife described the septuagenarian as an astute administrator, exemplary teacher and a great leader, adding that the celebrant is one of the most finest and admired women in Nigeria. She noted that Dame Etiaba is a record breaker who had left unfading impacts in her service to the state and mankind.
Ekwunife lauded the retired headmistress for her impressive achievements in governance, stressing that she is a beacon of light to women’s leadership and political participation. The Senator stated that the Nnewi-born politician struck a balance between her family life and politics which could be seen in the successes of her children.
The ranking lawmaker further noted that Dame Etiaba had through her political sojourn shown that gender has absolutely nothing to do with governance, encouraging more women participation in governance.
“On behalf of my family and the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District, I convey my heartfelt goodwill as you celebrate your 79th birthday and pray for more years in health”, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation noted.
