The Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has commended the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki for his efforts towards strengthening and repositioning the key sectors in the state to significantly accelerate economic growth and development.

The National President of NACCIMA, Ide John C. Udeagbala who gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to Governor Obaseki at the Government House, Benin City recently, praised the Governor for his 30-year development plan for Edo State which he said was a step in the right direction which would redefine the state.

According to him, “A bright future awaits Edo state and Nigeria in general with the full implementation of this development plan. The state chamber is ready and committed to work with your administration in achieving these lofty dreams that will re-write the history books.”

The NACCIMA boss posited that  the recent commissioning of the Edo Tech Park, an elite software engineering and leadership-training institute was evidence to bridging the unemployment gap by his administration noting that “it is worthy to note that this is also a keen area of interest during my tenure as the NACCIMA President ‘Harnessing Technology and Digital Ecosystem’ for the establishment of Tech-hubs and Co-creation centers in the NACCIMA 3 Geo-business zones.”

He maintained that technology was the new frontier of most economies which provided opportunities to trigger significant inclusive economic growth and reducing unemployment.

He, however, appealed to the governor to further increase his support to the chamber movement in Edo State by ensuring that the chamber has a permanent site and location to carry out its activities.

“Your Excellency, as you may be aware, NACCIMA was established in 1960 as the Premier Chamber Movement. As the ‘Voice of Nigerian Business’, the association is focused on ensuring an enabling business environment that is created and sustained through policy advocacy, promoting growth and competitiveness of business through proper and prompt information dissemination.

“Today’s visit avails us the ample opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to your administration for its support to the Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA). On their behalf, I want to reaffirm the commitment of the chamber to work closely with you for the success of your administration as you work to further reposition Edo State.

“Also accept my assurance that NACCIMA as the leading member of the Organised Private Sector, will continue to work with your administration to promote the private sector activities in the quest for inclusive economic growth and development”, he submitted.
