…as ANLCA sets to commence Chapters visitation in June
The International Federation of Customs Brokers Association (IFCBA) has ended its 2014 Seoul World Conference with a call on the Customs and the Customs Brokers to build capacity towards paperless transactions and trade facilitation.
The Conference also advocated for Customs Brokers of the World to build their businesses through sharing of experiences relating to clients service to brokers’ performance and defining the ultimate customs broker.
IFCBA works to bring about improvements in the Customs policies and practices on global basis which benefits both customs brokers and their clients by working together.
The conference which held between the 13th and 17th May, 2014 saw a delegation from the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) led by its National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu in attendance.
Also at the conference were Customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping companies, consolidators, importers and exporters and others involved in the Supply Chain Management from different parts of the world.
According to the release from the Director of Media and Publicity to ANLCA President, Joe Sani, the IFCBA Board of Directors held its Annual General Meeting where the election of new officers saw Carol West retaining her position as Secretary.
At the conference, various Paper presentations were made amongst which are ; WCO: Building Customs Capacity in the Asia Pacific Region, Delivering Customs Training in the Private Sector, The unique Character of Korean Customs Brokers System.
Others are, Improvement Role of Korea Customs service and Customs Brokers According to Enlargement of FTA, Key Performance Indicators- Tracking Customs Brokers’ Performance and Defining the Ultimate Customs Broker.
The National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu was a panelist in the paper,”Overseas Expansion of Advanced Internet clearance Portal System (UNI-PASS) in Korea and Stakeholders Engagement-Criteria for success, which he moderated.
In another development, the National President, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu has announced that the month of June would herald the visitation of the National Executive Committee (NECOM) to all the Chapters of the association.
Prince Shittu who made this known while briefing members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association in Lagos, said that in the course of the visit, the operational challenges and Welfare challenges of members would be adequately addressed.
While emphasizing the importance of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) in the port operations and the ease with which it is being issued, the National President announced that a proposed visit to the Nigeria Customs Management is in the offing.
He further reiterated his resolve to pursue the chattering of the association at the National assembly.
He however advised members to continuously strive to improve on their professional capacity pointing out that the Redeemers’ University of Nigeria is proposing to offer trainings in the related course at subsidized rates for clearing agents with a view to improving on their professional competencies.
Shittu therefore urged Chapter chairmen and their Secretaries to sensitize their members towards taking advantage of the redeemers’ University of Nigeria’s proposal more so that the institution is a CRFFN accredited training institution.
