…Honours Acting VC of COOU, Omenugha, CP Adeoye, others

The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Anambra State Chapter recently held it 2024 Annual General Meeting, AGM cum Award Ceremony. The group during the event honoured deserving individuals including the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, Professor Kate Omenugha, fnipr, with leadership excellence Service Award, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye as well as inducted him into the institute.
CP Adeoye’s membership as the Anambra State Chapter member of the institute was expressly ratified by the National President of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr.
Members of NIPR, Anambra State Chapter during the AGM re-elected the former Head of Mass Communication Department, COOU, Professor Angela Nwamuo, fnipr as Chairman.
The newly elected exco members of NIPR Anambra Chapter are as follows:
Prof. Angela Nwamuo – Chairman, Dr. Ikenna Umeanolue – Vice Chairman, Mr. Mark Ekwealor – Secretary General, Lady Jane Okafor – Assistant Secretary, Mr. Nnamdi Onuzulike – PRO, Mrs. Jacinta Nwafor- Financial Secretary, Mrs. Sandra Aghaebe – Treasurer and Dr. Eugenia Eneome – Auditor
The 2024 AGM of the association had the theme, “Akulueuno: Public Relations As A Strategic Driver of Economic and Social Growth In South East Nigeria.”
Speaking on the theme of the AGM, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu informed the gathering that he has created the enabling environment for investment through Public Private Community Partnership and reducing insecurity to the barest minimize.
He urged Ndi Igbo in the Diaspora to emulate the Late Dr. Anthony Enukeme, the founder of Tonimas Nigeria Limited who singlehandedly developed his Community, Neni by extending their wealth to Anambra to enhance economic growth of the state.
In her remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Anambra State Chapter, Professor Angela Nwamuo decried the rate at which Igbo billionaires are being chased away from some parts of Nigeria when they have a viable and prosperous South East where they can do business peacefully, and urged them to bring their wealth home to fasttrack economic and social development of the region. She promised to carry everyone along in the discharge of her duty.
Speaking on the theme of the ceremony, A guest speaker, Senator Osita Izunaso disclosed that the investment of Ndigbo outside the South-East is worth two trillion dollars while their region continues to produce a population under economic destitute.
The Senator explained that for Akulueuno philosophy to be achieved, governments in South East must tackle insecurity in the area, provide every necessary facility that will encourage Ndigbo to extend their wealth home, while Ndigbo must love themselves, their language and culture, even as he charged public relations practitioners to always sensitize and persuade Ndigbo to key into Akulueuno philosophy for the benefit of the people.
