By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, on Saturday, 7th April 2024 at Idemili North Local Government Area Headquarters, Ogidi, inaugurated the Solution Kindred Initiative, SKI team drawn from Ogidi Ward I and II. The launching of the Initiative was masterminded by APGA, Anambra State led by High Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye.
Inaugurating the team, the APGA’s supremo declared Anambra as an APGA State, emphasizing that no other party would dislodged the party, saying that with the launching of the SKI team in various local government areas beginning that day with Ogidi Ward I and II as pilot scheme, the party would not only surpass the 21/21 feat, but would also make it 326 over 326.
He added that he was more than happy seeing his home state, Anambra, taking the lead in mobilization, sensitization of voters as well as galvanizing support for the party.
Ezeokenwa noted that the opposition parties were only interested in capturing power just to siphone public funds and then take the state back to the years of locusts, stating that the ruling party in Anambra State would not allow such to happen.
The National Chairman assured that with the current wave of developments in all facets of the state’s economy, he had no doubt that Ndi Anambra would vote massively for APGA in the next gubernatorial election.
Ezeokenwa, while speaking on the Solution Kindred Initiative, SKI, enjoined all to be ready to identify with the party’s cooperatives which he said would be domesticated in all the kindreds in Anambra State and beyond.
The APGA National Chairman stated that the cooperatives would not in any way affect the newly launched Soludo Kindred initiative, adding that it was designed to ensure that members of the party at the grassroots level benefit directly and immensely from whatever the party would be giving out.
“What we are doing today is to give back the party to her original owners; the grassroots. These people here are the owners of the party. We are taking the party back to them because they own it. This is the party for the people. All the kindreds are highly instrumental. They are the voters. Everything will be going directly to them. It is no longer business as usual. I am happy that APGA Anambra has taken this bold step. Nothing gives joy than seeing your state doing very well. I now have a lesser burden. I can go and face other things knowing that my state is intact”, he said.
The APGA National Chairman who took his time to appreciate and commend the Anambra State Chairman of the party, High Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye for initiating the programme said that he (Obi-Okoye) had long proven himself as a grassroots mobilizer and a great strategist, having served as the Chairman of the then ruling party and also serving as the Chairman of the ruling party in the state today.
“I salute Obi-Okoye’s political sagacity. Former House of Assembly member in the old Anambra State, former state Chairman of a ruling, former Special Adviser on political matters and now the State Chairman of APGA Anambra State. These accomplishments are not a mean feat and we are happy to have him around. I have been asking myself how we are going to replicate the 21/21 feat but after seeing this Solution Kindred Initiative I have no doubt we’ll clinch 326/326. We are going to win all the wards in the state and that’s our target”, he concluded.
“Let me also thank the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North, Ezeoba Chuks-Brown Igboanua. He’s a real party man; Very loyal, humble and hardworking. We are happy for him. He’s really doing well. I have no doubt that he’ll be treating the party members well. I know he cannot abandon the Local Government and ward executives. He’s a good man”, Ezeokenwa stated.
Speaking, the State Chairman of APGA, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye thanked the National Chairman for showering encomiums on him and his team and assured that there were hidden secrets about the Solution Kindred Initiative, SKI which would not be revealed here for obvious reasons, saying that the idea was to continue to keep the opposition in perpetual darkness and in the state of confusion.
“We have our game plan intact. The modus operandi of the team will not be discussed here. Let the opposition keep asking questions. Our aim was to put APGA in the lips of all in Anambra State; every household, every Kindred and villages will be singing the party’s praises. You can eat what was given at local or ward levels and believe that nothing will happen but not that of the kindred. That’s the reason we are taking everything to the grassroots. Let the people be in-charge of their party”, he said.
Chief Obi-Okoye noted that the choice of using Local Government Areas Headquarters was germane, saying that doing it at the state level would not yield the desired results, stating that these individuals present at the launching of the SKI would not make it to Awka. He said that having it in local government areas would help in no measure in giving the party members a sense of belonging and as well make it easier for them to access the venue .
Earlier in a remark, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North, Chief Sir Chuks-Brown Igboanua paid glowing tribute to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, saying that his good works had made it easier for APGA as a party and that he had also reduced the burden occasioned by campaign to 80%.
“Our Governor is doing wonders. He’s really doing well. His works are there for all to see. We are going to the election with hearts full of joy and pride. Our Governor is making us proud. Here in Idemili North we are the first to carry out the operation zero potholes mandate. We have rehabilitated many bad roads. We are truly toeing the footsteps of our Governor”, Chief Igboanua stated.
In a vote of thanks,, the Party Local Government Chairman, Chief Lemmy Ekwo thanked all those present, especially the National Chairman of APGA, State Party executive and the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North.
