The Finance and Business Online Publishers, FiBOP, a renowned body of registered online publishers, has formally recognized and rewarded Sylvester Egede, former Port Manager of Tin Can Island Port, TCIP, for his outstanding contributions to trade facilitation.

Sylvester Egede’s illustrious career spans various roles within the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA. Prior to this, he held the position of Traffic Manager at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal.
Egede also served as Personal Assistant to the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, and held roles as Manager, Traffic Operations Coordination and National Integrated Power Project (NIPP/NPA Project Unit). His professional experience extends to the Rivera Port in Port Harcourt, where he served as Traffic Manager.
Egede belongs to several professional bodies, including membership in the American Society of Safety Professionals and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, FCILT. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Jos and a Master of Science degree in Transport Planning from Lagos State University.
Egede has attended several conferences and seminars within and outside Nigeria. These include the ASCON workshop on Developing Leadership Competence and Capabilities, International Maritime Organization, IMO sessions, and the International Association of Ports and Harbors, IAPH conference in Abuja.
During his tenure as Port Manager, Egede achieved several milestones. He successfully cleared the Mile 2 Tin Can Island port expressway blockage, ending years of traffic congestion. He also decongested the Tin Can Island port access road, facilitating ease of movement.
Egede increased export volume due to removal of road traffic impediments and implemented corporate social responsibility initiatives, including donation of educational materials to community schools. He improved security measures through solar-powered lighting and enhanced cargo operations efficiency through regular stakeholder engagements.
