In line with the implementation of the 4% Free On Board, FOB levy, the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS has mandated the Customs Area Controller to take proactive steps to engage and educate the importers’, agents and other relevant stakeholders on the modalities for its collection.
The Service, in a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller General, DCG in charge of Finance Administration and Technical Services, BM Jibo in Abuja on Wednesday, recalled that “The 4% Free On Board, FOB levy is aimed at enhancing revenue generation and ensuring compliance with the NCS Act 2023.”
“As such, all Customs Area Commands are directed to organize stakeholders’ meeting, workshop and sensitization sessions to provide clarity on the purpose, process and compliance requirements of the 4% FOB collection.
“Your cooperation in this regard is essential for the successful implementation of this directive. Kindly ensure strict compliance and provide periodic updates on the level of stakeholders engagement and compliance rates. Treat as urgent, please“, the circular directed.
