A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. Gabriel Nwafor has congratulated the executive governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his well deserved recognition by the Sun Newspapers as the Governor of the Year 2024.
Nwafor who extended his congratulatory message to the governor in a statement in Oko, Anambra State on Sunday also congratulated the people of Anambra State for the honour done to their governor, arguing that an honour to the governor is an honour to the entire state, a testament that the state is in safe hands and progressing.
Applauding Governor Soludo ‘s giant strides in Anambra State in the last three years, Nwafor who is also a former President of the Students’ Union Government, SUG, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra said that Soludo had performed excellently well in all facets of the Anambra economy, leaving no one in doubt that his vision of building a liveable and prosperous homeland for Ndi Anambra is achievable.
His words, “The governor has distinguished himself in the last three years on the saddle as the governor of Anambra State. Every facet of the state bears his imprint as he has touched virtually all aspects of the state’s economy and delivering on his campaign promises to Ndi Anambra.
“He has tackled infrastructural deficit, constructed roads, opening up the hinterlands and the hard to reach towns and villages in the state, revitalized our health and education sectors. The free ante-natal and free delivery for pregnant women in all government hospitals, the recruitment of over 2,000 health professionals, the free education from Primary to Secondary Schools in the state, recruitment of over 5,000 teaching and non teaching staff, the new government house and government lodge, the launch of operation Udo Ga Achi and the Agunechemba security outfit which is riding Anambra of bad elements among others.

“All these and more the governor has done without borrowing a dime even when has secured an approval to borrow from the Anambra State House of Assembly, a testament to his financial prudence and fiscal discipline.
“Indeed, the governor deserves the honour by the Sun Newspapers and I want to congratulate him and the entire Anambra State for this uncommon feat. On behalf of myself and my family, I say a hearty congratulations to the Solution governor. Indeed, Anambra State is in a safe hand.”
Recall that Governor Soludo was recognized by the Sun Publishing Limited as the Governor of the Year 2024 alongside the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu; Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago; and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo described the honour as deeply humbling, recalling a similar recognition by The Sun 20 years ago when he was named Nigeria’s Man of the Year for his transformative role in the banking and financial sector as the CBN governor.
“This is to thank the management of The Sun Newspapers. We’re particularly humbled because about 20 years ago, The Sun was one of the eight newspapers and magazines that simultaneously awarded us Nigeria’s Man of the Year because of our transformation of the banking and financial system. About 20 years after, The Sun Newspaper again happens to be one of the five newspapers that have now also simultaneously recognized us as the Governor of the Year 2024,” he said.
Soludo dedicated the award to the people of Anambra State, including the government, the “Solution Team,” and all stakeholders involved in the Anambra Transformation Project.
