Bomarah Foundation in collaboration with Chanelle Foundation is set to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, IWD with women with disability.

The event with the theme, “Accelerate Action Against All Odd”, is scheduled to hold on Thursday 20th March, 2023 at the Apapa Local Government Secretariat, Apapa at 10.00am.

The event which has Hajia Bola Muse, President, Bomarah Foundation as the Chief Host and Dr. Anire Okogun, President, Channelle Foundation as Co-host, would have Chief Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, Chief Executive Officer, LeLook as the mother of the day.

Special Guests of Honour are Mr. Bolaji Sunmola, Chairman, Nigerian Port Consultative Council, NPCC and Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman, Oyo State Pension Board.

Speaking on the reason for the event, the Chief Host, Hajia Bola Muse stated that the event was put in place to appreciate the womenfolk and the special place they occupy on earth adding that women needed to be celebrated everyday.

According to her, “It’s not enough for us to celebrate women for one day because what we are passing through, our responsibility is worth more than anything in this life. Like this one that is coming up through my NGO, I am celebrating with people living with disability because these are the people that humanity tends to forget most of the time. I am celebrating them to make them have a sense of belonging.

“That you are beautiful, you are a woman, you are vibrant and being disabled is not the end of the world. And I want to say thank you for accepting to be who you are because it’s not easy. Look at those of us that are able, if anything happens to you now, you feel uncomfortable not to talk of people who are disabled. So, that is the purpose of having to celebrate them and to God be the glory, this is not the first time.

“On 20th of March, we will be having the event, we will be having like seven clusters that will be coming in, the vulnerable, the intellectual, the blind, the deaf, the dumb, the albinos, the crippled, everybody is coming and I am happy doing that. It gives me joy.”

Appreciating those who are collaborating with her to make the event a reality, she said, “I want to thank my sister, the Honourable Chairman of Apapa Local Government Area for giving us the platform. I just told her that I want to use your place because I want to extend it to Apapa because I belong to Apapa.

“We have a lot of gifts and everybody is supporting me and I want to thank Kabiyesi Ojora, because he’s the one that gave us the rice to give to the people. This is Ramadan, it’s a moment of gifts and everybody will go home happy. Apart from the food, you will just enjoy yourself.”
