Indorama Petrochemicals Restates Commitment To Prioritize Environmental Preservation, Corporate Social Responsibility

The Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, a leading Petrochemicals and Fertilizer production company in Eleme Port-Harcourt, Rivers state says it is committed to prioritizing Environmental Preservation and Corporate social responsibility. 

This disclosure was made, Thursday when the company hosted the crème de la crème in the media industry in Rivers state at an event which was used as a stock taking on how the corporate image of the company fared, under the 18 years leadership of Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, the Head Corporate Communications and also to usher in the new Corporate communications Head, Mr. Bibiye Justice who will take over from Dr.  Nkwocha who announced his retirement at the end of May 2025. 

The Managing Director (Indorama Nigeria) and Executive Director (Indorama Africa), Manish Mundra represented by the Chief Technical Officer, Indorama Nigeria, Mr. Deepu Sivadas has praised Dr. Josy Nkwocha ahead of his retirement, saying that Indorama had enjoyed unprecedented media cooperation. 

The Indorama boss stated that Nkwocha, Head, Corporate Communications of the firm who is set to retire by end of May 2025, has demonstrated high level   professionalism in his partnership with Journalists in the state even as he insisted that the synergy has positioned Indorama in the right perspective in terms of reportage of the company’s operations.

Mundra said his organization would continue to prioritize environmental preservation as well as cooperate Social Responsibility alongside other policies geared towards profitability.

Indorama, an 8,000 Metric Tons daily capacity fertilizer production company, is a world – class largest single – train Urea facility in Sub-Saharan Africa with a legacy of excellence in Fertilizer production. 

The Company’s commitment to best Agricultural practices in Africa and beyond is topnotch. 

Its dedication to creating livelihoods and social impact in communities through international standards and responsible operations have earned the company a global reach as it strives for the promotion of Nigeria Global brand reputation. 

In his response, Nkwocha commended the management of Indorama for giving him the opportunity to serve in the company and thanked journalists for their support.

“I have enjoyed tremendous support from journalists in the state in the past 18 years. For this reason, I haven’t experienced any media crisis”, Nkwocha noted. 

“I want to thank you all for your cooperation and to announce that I’m about stepping down, by the end of this month, I shall be retiring and Mr. Justice Bibiye will be stepping in my shoes. 

“Bibiye is one of us, a thorough bred Corporate Communications Personality, having served in NTA and the AIT. I therefore urge you to avail him the same level of support”, he said.

Also speaking, Bibiye commended journalists for supporting the outgoing Communications Chief and for contributing to the growth of the company while also urging them to safeguard it.

“Indorama is a critical national asset contributing significantly to the economy. The company is continuously creating jobs and assisting the government tackle food shortage through high quality fertilizers production for export and local demands”, he said.

On his own, the state Chapter chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr. Paul Bazia commended the company’s achievements and pledged on behalf of the journalists to sustain the cooperation. 

The event featured, Facility Tour of the company and a “Happy hour”. 

However, industry watchers believe that with the retirement of Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, a public relations guru, and the stepping in of another thoroughbred media personality, Mr. Justice Bibiye, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, which could be described as “a plant in a garden” because of the company’s serene Environment, a leading petrochemicals and fertilizer company with huge contribution to Nigeria’s economy through export, will continue to leverage on the gains made by Dr. Nkwocha as the communications Head.
