The Shippers’ Association of Lagos State (SALS) President, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Nicol has again been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate of Science (D.Sc.) in Maritime and Shipping Management by the European American University (EAU) in an event well attended in far away Accra, Ghana.
Speaking at the event that held at Badiku Hall in Accra, Ghana on a topic, “Leadership Dynamics and its Best Practices”, a guest lecturer, John Olukayode Lo-Omoyele stated that, “a good leader, can easily be identified if he possess these qualities: honesty, communication, confident, inspiration, possibility, delegation, commitment, humor, creativity and intuition”.
Omoyele who is presently the Managing Director and Senior Partner, Lead-Care International and Pan African Education Consult Ltd. took time to explained that one of the major characteristics of a good leader, was the capability to be familiar with and understand characters, emotions and behaviors and particularly the impact to encourage his servants, share ideas, opinions and creativity.
While highlighting some key leadership styles as ; authoritarian, paternalistic, democratic, accidental, symbolic and toxic, Omoleye also said, “some of the characteristics of a servant leader are listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, foresight, stewardship, building community and above all commitment to the growth of people.
Expressing appreciation to God and the organizers, after receiving the award, Rev. Dr. Nicol said he gave all Glory to God Almighty and that he dedicated the award to his family, all members of Shippers Association, all staffs of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, all staffs of Halem International Ltd, friends, media and most especially, “My Bishop of Aetherius Society and members as well”.
